School of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Care
If you would like to begin an exciting and rewarding career in nursing, this is the place to be!
Our school is the largest of its kind in Scotland, and we offer an extensive range of programmes and options...
Pre-registration programmes for nursing specialise in Adult, Child Health, Learning Disabilities or Mental Health, as well as options in Midwifery. For animal lovers, we offer a degree programme in Veterinary Nursing, run in collaboration with the College of Animal Welfare - the first programme of its kind in Scotland. If you are already a registered nurse and want to refresh your skills or upgrade your qualification, the school offers post-registration top-up programmes, and also a range of CPD short courses and study days.
At Postgraduate level the school offers a range of flexible learning opportunities - including qualifications in advanced neonatal nursing, midwifery, and many more. Also on offer are our applied education programmes which enable graduates to gain a recordable teaching qualification with the Nursing & Midwifery Council.
The School is actively involved in Research activities and has close links with the Centre for Integrated Healthcare Research. Recent research activities within the school include ethical issues in health care, nursing leadership, abuse during pregnancy, and email counselling. The school is also frequently consulted by nursing professional bodies to advise on issues relating to nurse education, public health and Scottish health projects.
Teaching is divided between the Comely Bank and Canaan Lane Campuses. For more information, please use the navigation bar on the right, or Contact Us.
