Naren Gupta

Dr Gupta is a Senior Lecturer, Teaching Fellow, and the Director of Quality in the School of Engineering and the Built Environment at Edinburgh Napier University. 

He has successfully supervised 10 research degree completions, is currently supervising 12, and has examined over 20 PhD’s and MPhil’s.  He has published over 100 papers in various journals and conferences of International standing and is head of the TRi (Transport Research Institute) Rail Systems Group.

Dr Gupta’s research interests include electronic sensor technologies for non destructive testing, the use of fuel cells for transportation and materials use and power supply for rail travel.  He retains professional links with the IET where he is a professional registration advisor and member of the Fellowship Panel and Accreditation Team.  He is a consultant editor and a member of the editorial panel for a number of international publications.

He has served as an external examiner at a number of universities. Currently he is an external examiner at Sheffield Hallam University, University of West England, Bristol and Tunku Rahman College in Malaysia.
