Enerwater: energy recovery in food processing.
Novel systems to recover and redistribute energy leading to lower industrial process costs
The Enerwater project involves research and development in novel systems to recover and redistribute energy in food processing and manufacturing premises. The systems are particularly relevant to the premises that contain on-site industrial refrigeration and heating. The project optimises the production of heated water as a process requirement for heating, cleaning and sterilisation by recycling both the waste heat and treating the waste water stream so that the energy is recovered or reused. The attraction to industry is energy and water savings leading to lower process costs. The developments may be applied within an industrial complex that can provide energy source and sink needs to the industrial community or local domestic demands.
