Learning environment

Our modern facilities boast two spacious lecture theatres with the capacity to hold 400 and 200 people respectively, along with smaller classrooms in which tutorials and seminars are held.  In these smaller rooms you will apply the material delivered in lectures to real-life cases and scenarios in small groups and teams. Within tutorials and seminars you will utilise the learning technology in presentations to academics and your fellow students, preparing you for future placement and career opportunities.

You will be able to study independently or in groups in a number of self-study areas across the campus.  You can also take advantage of hands-on technological support; the IT teaching lab; a drop-in computer area at Craiglockhart with 100 terminals; the Jack Kilby Computer Centre, located at our Merchiston campus, which is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week; and accessible WIFI across all our campuses allowing fast and easy connection to the Internet.

Once enrolled as a student you will have access to: our secure online learning environment (Moodle) which will support your learning; allocated personal storage area on the University network (My Drive) which you can access at any time from any computer with Internet access; a personalised email account; our library system - for checking catalogues and reserving books; your own student records - for matriculation, updating your personal entry and accessing your results; and also Email and telephone support from the central IT Support Desk, using the University's Student Portal My Napier.
