Beyond Boundaries – Your Future, Our Future

The 21st Century Edinburgh Napier Graduate

Thank you to all students and alumni who took part in Beyond Boundaries on Saturday 13th March. The event set out to capture what the attributes of an Edinburgh Napier graduate should be in the 21st Century, and how best these should be developed.

We had a great day of uplifting presentations, live music and provocative discussions. First of all we took the opportunity to dump things we don’t like in Room 101.

We wanted rid of:

closed mindedness      student stereotypes      lack of communication 
elitism     people moaning     negativity     needless academic phraseology    
qualification      snobbery

Then we made space to think and we opened our minds to future possibilities; we challenged perceptions and produced lots of big ideas. We created a vision of what, to us, an Edinburgh Napier graduate should be.

We want to:

be savvy      be visionary         be ‘ inventrepreneurial’          smell opportunity
be creative      have a positive self image       be optimistic 
handle responsibility     be ambitious

What now?

Thinktastic captured the outputs of the day, which you can read in the final report. We are now working out the best ways to address the recommendations and to integrate the student perspective.
