Equality Scheme and Action Plan 2010-13

The University is proud to publish its combined Equality Scheme and Action Plan 2010-13 and will continue to produce and make public on these pages progress reports, as we did with our Race, Disability and Gender Equality Schemes. This is a new era in the field of equality and diversity where public organisations such as the University are actively encouraged by the legislation to focus on outcomes and not on process.

We have developed our Action Plan accordingly and identified the outcomes we want to realise. We have stated how we will measure our success and set ourselves clear deadlines. Our Equality and Diversity Committee will continue to oversee progress and ensure that we deliver on our commitments.

While developing our Action Plan we realised that many of the actions we previously published separately as part of our Race, Disability or Gender Equality Schemes were in fact generic ones designed to eradicate discrimination across all 'protected characteristics'. We have therefore brought them together as one activity (for example, Equality Impact Assessments) and this has reduced the size of the Action Plan but not our commitment.
