Equality Impact Assessment
Equality Impact Assessment (EIA) is the process by which organisations examine their activities in order to minimise the potential for discrimination. Although the Equality Act 2010 no longer imposes a duty to impact assess, we will continue to impact assess our policies and practices as they are reviewed (or implemented for the first time).
Edinburgh Napier University has developed guidance and a template for staff involved in producing (or updating) policy, developing services or writing course material. It is imperative that everyone involved in these processes assesses their proposals and forwards a copy of the report to the Diversity Partner.

EIA Guidance 2011 and
EIA Reporting Template 2010/11. If you are unsure or simply need some advice contact the Diversity Partner, Mohammed Hameed, on 0131 455 3340 or by email at m.hameed@napier.ac.uk
If you are conducting a risk assessment, you may find the
Risk Assessment and Disabled People publication from the Health and Safety Executive helpful.
