Race Equality
Edinburgh Napier University has one of the most ethnically-diverse student populations in Scotland. We attract students from a multitude of countries and, according to our most recent
Annual Student Diversity Report, around 15% were from a black or minority ethnic background. Such a rich diversity of students presents us with many challenges as well as benefits. We will ensure future activity builds on the success we have had to date.
What is the University doing to address racial inequalities?
We will continue to interrogate the following areas to ensure that inequalities do not arise because of the protected characteristic of race:
- the institution's values
- curriculum, teaching and learning (including language and cultural needs)
- assessment
- racial harassment and bullying
- the institution's management and governing body
- admissions, access and participation
- student support and guidance
- behaviour and discipline
- partnerships and community links, and
- staff recruitment, training and career development.
You can find our Race Equality Annual Reports, which were produced prior to the introduction of the Equality Act 2010, under Key Documents.
