Religion or Belief
Did you know that in the 2001 Census around 10,000 people claimed to be Jedi Knights? While we don't necessarily accept that Jedi Knights exist, we do uphold everyone's right to describe themselves as they wish (strictly speaking, this was in answer to the ethnic origin question but you know where we're coming from!). So whether you are Christian, Muslim, Jewish, Sikh, Hindu or Wicca, Edinburgh Napier University welcomes the rich diversity of its staff and students.
The University has a chaplaincy service that offers a range of services, including support during times of crisis, spiritual direction and advice in matters of faith. More information can be found by visiting the student portal or the staff intranet, or by contacting the chaplaincy service direct at enquiries@napierchaplains.org.
Edinburgh is fortunate in having a wide range of cultural and religious centres dotted about the city. For further information about what's available visit the Edinburgh Inter-Faith Association's website www.eifa.org.uk
The Law
Under the Equality Act 2010, it is unlawful for someone to discriminate against you because of your religion or belief (or because you have no religion or belief). This Act strengthened the protection that was already in place to protect employees and, with limited exceptions, means that you are entitled to receive goods and services without fear of discrimination on religious grounds.
