Student Affairs works to provide high quality and effective professional services to support potential and current students from their initial enquiry to Napier University through to graduation and beyond.
We are currently seeking an enthusiastic, flexible, experienced and well-qualified individual to lead the Special Needs and Diversity Services team. The team is dedicated to helping students with special needs and disabilities find appropriate support to fulfil their academic potential. The Head of Special Needs and Diversity Services will contribute to the development, implementation and monitoring of the University’s services for potential applicants and students with special needs. You will also work with senior managers to initiate and coordinate policies and action plans to ensure the University meets or exceeds its statutory obligations in relation to diversity legislation.
You will manage the work of the Special Needs and Diversity Services team and contribute to the overall management of Student Affairs by leading and motivating staff to achieve University and departmental plans.You should have a degree or equivalent and significant relevant experience of working with people with mental health difficulties, physical and sensory impairments and specific learning difficulties. You should have well developed communication, organisational and interpersonal skills and be able to demonstrate a commitment to students and the quality of their experience. You should be able to work under pressure in a changing environment and be able to demonstrate a proactive, positive and collaborative approach to working with a wide range of colleagues.
