Your main responsibilities will be to support the Head of the Research Office in the central administration of the University’s research activity and in operational research development. You will be expected to take a proactive role in developing knowledge, identifying funding opportunities and supporting academic staff in preparation of grant applications ensuring that support documents are processed efficiently. The Research Office Administrator is responsible for providing a professional contract negotiation service for academic colleagues across the University in liaison with a wide range of external funders including research councils, charities, government bodies and industry. In the absence of the Head of the Research Office you will be expected to provide authoritative guidance to staff at all levels. You will be expected to work across the wider Research Office function, including involvement in administration of the research degree portfolio with research degrees colleagues, as appropriate.
You must hold a degree, preferably in a numerate subject or equivalent level of qualification, or have extensive relevant work experience. In addition, you must have worked in customer-focussed roles and used databases & spreadsheets fluently. Your personal attributes will include: the ability to be able to work on your own & prioritise work to meet tough deadlines within a high-pressure environment, excellent interpersonal & written communication skills, and well-developed IT skills.
Appointments are normally made at the bottom of the salary scale
