Academic Dress

Graduation is a formal occasion, and graduands are expected to dress appropriately - a dark suit, white shirt and dark tie for men, and dark skirt or trousers and white blouse or dark dress for women. National dress may be worn if you wish however mortar boards, hats and fascinators are not permitted. In addition, an academic gown and hood appropriate to your degree is compulsory to take part in the ceremony.

Academic dress may be bought or hired from the University robe makers, Ede & Ravenscroft. It is your responsibility to order a gown and hood before the ceremony. There is a separate charge for this service, which is not included in the graduation payment. Please give the robe makers at least three weeks notice of your requirements.
