What happens next?

Congratulations! All of your hard work has finally paid off and you'll soon be a graduate of Edinburgh Napier University. But this doesn't mean that your relationship with the University or the new friendships you have made should come to an end.

We're committed to providing services and events to ensure that you can remain actively involved with us long after graduation. As an Edinburgh Napier graduate, you become a member of our alumni community, and we aim to offer you help and support wherever we can. Have a look at our Alumni website to find out more.

You will also receive our alumni magazine, The Red Triangle, which will keep you informed of the University's achievements and alumni news and views. You may even make it into print yourself – we are always interested in receiving stories about your achievements and experiences.

Keep in touch

Graduates move an average of 7 times in the first 10 years after graduation. Letting us know about your changes in address will ensure that you can fully participate in alumni activities, stay in touch with former classmates, or build new friendships with fellow Napier alumni living in your area.

If your details have already changed, please take the time to register for the Members' Area to update your details online. You can also let us know about changes to your contact details by emailing us at alumni@napier.ac.uk or our freepost address:

Moving on

Whether you are looking for a graduate job, more work experience or to go on to further study, our careers services can help you out. As a Napier graduate you can access:

  • Job vacancies – career, internships, placements, volunteering and gap year opportunities
  • A careers education programme covering topics such as CVs and applications, interview skills and psychometric tests
  • Careers guidance and advice
  • Employer information, events and presentations
  • Visit our Careers pages for more information or email careers@napier.ac.uk to book an appointment with an Adviser.

Around 6 months after graduation, Careers may contact you to find out how your career plans are progressing. We do this to provide information to future students and to help us continuously enhance our programmes. Your co-operation is very much appreciated. If your address changes please remember to update your details on the Alumni Members' Area or by emailing alumni@napier.ac.uk.

References

Many employers will request academic references if you have recently graduated from university. It's in your interest to arrange a reference procedure with at least 2 members of staff from your own study area as soon as possible, bearing in mind that many academic staff will be unavailable for periods during the summer months.

If required, Student & Academic Services can confirm dates of attendance and final qualification achieved, for a period of 7 years after you have left the University - they cannot however provide personal references.

Best wishes and good luck for the future.
