Graduands have three graduation options:
Attend the ceremony
This allows you to attend the graduation ceremony & reception. The cost to attend is £50 and includes ceremony and reception tickets for yourself and two guests.
Please note a degree will only be conferred once for a linked course, e.g. Degree to Honours Degree: you will not be eligible to participate in a second graduation ceremony should you subsequently qualify.
Graduate In Absentia (not attending the ceremony)
Even if you do not wish to attend the ceremony, you still need to apply to get your parchment sent by post after the ceremony. The cost to graduate In Absentia is £20 and your parchment will be sent to your home address by recorded delivery (UK addresses only). Parchments sent to addresses outwith the UK will be sent by air mail. Please allow four to six weeks from graduation for delivery.
If you are planning to change address, please remember to inform Student Administration by calling 0131 455 2535 or emailing email@example.com.
If you would prefer to collect your parchment in person please email Student Administration at firstname.lastname@example.org within a week of your ceremony date, and we will advise when it is ready to collect.
Defer until the next graduation ceremony
You may attend the graduation ceremony in the autumn of 2014 if you prefer, just email email@example.com to let us know.
Please note that if you defer your graduation, your graduation date will be changed to the set date of the next ceremony you are able to attend and you will not be able to receive your parchment until that date.
The opportunity to defer is only offered once.
If you have a debt to the University which is not cleared before graduation, you will not be permitted to participate in the graduation ceremony or receive your parchment, and your name will not appear in the graduation programme or The Scotsman newspaper.
If you think you may have a debt to the University please contact Credit Control on 0131 455 6140.
Please email firstname.lastname@example.org or telephone Student Administration on 0131 455 2535 if you need further information on any aspect of graduation.
