Graduate awarded Commander and Star and Key of the Indian Ocean

Dr Ah Tow, a graduate of Edinburgh Napier’s Economics PhD in 2007, has been awarded the Commander and Star and Key (CSK) of the Indian Ocean - one of only six people per year given the honour.
The award, which is similar to the UK’s OBE, is a title conferred by the Government of Mauritius on the marking of the country’s independence. The title CSK rewards people who have shown leadership and served the motherland.
Dr Ah Tow is the current Rector of College Bon et Perpetuel Secours and the only Rector in Mauritius who holds a UK PhD. He said: "This year I was awarded the Commander and Star and Key of the Indian Ocean (CSK) by the Mauritian Government on the occasion of the National Day for my contribution in the fields of Economy and Education.”
Professor Ronald McQuaid, Director of Studies during Dr Ah Tow's PhD said: “It is a delight for all supervisors to see their former doctoral students gain such public recognition. I hope his experience at Edinburgh Napier University helped, in a small way, to support his success.”
