Brief Biography

Michael Pearson is a Reader in the School of Accounting, Financial Services and Law at Edinburgh Napier University Business School. Research interests are in the fields of Supply Chain Management and Networks and Social Network Analysis. He was educated at Merton College, Oxford where he gained an MA in Mathematics, Newcastle-upon-Tyne University (BA Philosophy and MSc Applicable Mathematics) and a PhD by publication at Edinburgh Napier University.

He has a background as an Operational Research Analyst. His work on Supply Chain Networks began as a result of a major consultancy programme for a large commercial newspaper distributor where he developed software for the distribution of newspapers and magazines across a retail network in the UK. Currently interests include research project manager for the Interregional SME Supply Chains along the Northeast Corridor.

He is also collaborating with leading researchers in social network analysis, and has presented regularly at the International Network for Social Network Analysis, as well as engaged in consultancy for the medical research council. He has also been an invited speaker at three symposia. He is chairman of the Operational Research Group of Scotland.

Knowledge Transfer Projects

Mike is a leader for the research aspect for the project involving Interregional SME Supply Chains along the Northeast Corridor/North Sea Supply Connect. This project is led by Groningen Municipality and is planned to work together with the Baltic Sea Region project. The project will provide better access to supply chains in both regions by increasing business opportunities, setting up interregional SME supply clusters, organising SME cooperation and innovation projects as well as other targets.
