Brief Biography
Dr Thomas Henschel PhD , MBA , Dip. Kaufmann is a Lecturer in Accounting at Edinburgh Napier University, UK. He was until 2008 a senior lecturer/assistant professor at Hochschule Merseburg, Germany and HTWK Leipzig, Germany.
Thomas has worked in auditing and financial roles in Germany. He was senior accountant at Ernst & Young and subsequently head of the accounting department for a construction firm before moving into academia.
Thomas’s research interests are in the use of business planning and risk management by Small and Medium-sized Enterprises. He has published two books and over ten academic articles and led a number of consultancy projects.
Thomas Henschel is an active member of the International Council for Small Business. He is also active with the local business community in developing workshops and training material on risk management and business planning for small firms.
