School of Accounting, Financial Services and Law
The School of Accounting, Financial Services and Law (SAFSL) offers certificate, undergraduate and postgraduate programmes of study and has a healthy postgraduate research base.

Prospective students can study for a range of accredited accounting programmes at certificate level to our BA in Accounting suite through to our MScs in Accounting and Finance and Corporate Strategy in Finance on either a full or part-time basis. SAFSL also offers courses for ACCA and CIMA students on a part time basis. In addition, the School is one of only two Scottish Universities to have gained an excellent grading from the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) in their most recent analysis of Accounting & Finance education in Scotland.
The BA (Hons) Financial Services suite of degrees provides students with a broad grounding in business-related issues, with a specific application to the growing financial services – banking, insurance and investment management – sector. The BA (Hons) Financial Services (flexible) degree enables banking, insurance and financial planning professionals to study on a part-time distance learning basis in order to augment and enhance their existing professional qualifications such as CIOBS, CII and CFP.
The School also maintains links relevant professional bodies such as the Chartered Institute of Bankers in Scotland, the Chartered Insurance Institute, the Personal Finance Society and the Insurance Society of Edinburgh. In addition, the School has been and continues to be involved with many of the key organisations within the financial services sector including Standard Life, Lloyds TSB, Royal Bank of Scotland, and HBOS.
Both the BA (Hons) Accounting and BA(Hons) Financial Services degree are also offered in Hong Kong with our partner institutions, namely, City University – SCOPE and Hong Kong University - SPACE.
The Accounting section of the School has a healthy track record of research and Ph.D supervision and we have two working paper series run by the School.
The Centre for Law also forms part of SAFSL and offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications.
