Creative Growth Project
Creative Growth is a partnership project run by Edinburgh Napier’s School of Arts & Creative Industries, the Academic Development department, and partners from Sweden, Hungary, Lithuania, Italy, Spain, Romania, Bulgaria and Denmark. The project is funded by Interreg IVC and hosted by the School of Arts & Creative Industries’ Popular Music Industries section, with Graham Weir as the project manager. A special emphasis will be placed on promoting Scotland’s music industry and developing innovative learning and teaching schemes for people working in the industry.
The project aims to develop improved business support services and solutions for the creative sector, eventually increasing regional economic growth through the development of the Creative Industries as a new business sector. It hopes to influence both local and regional policy development, incorporating new knowledge and examples of best practice from across Europe into the policy making process.
With Scotland being one of the more advanced partner regions in terms of promoting the Creative Industries, Edinburgh Napier University plays a key role in the project. The Creative Growth project will offer Edinburgh Napier’s School of Arts & Creative Industries, Scotland’s largest creative media school in the Higher Education sector, a unique strategic opportunity to establish partnerships with respective universities and colleges across Europe. With its experience in Creative Industries research and teaching, Edinburgh Napier will also be able to inform a future European Network of Creative regions and position itself as a key expert institution across Europe.
By involving key organisations from politics, education and the music industry from all over Scotland, such as the Scottish Arts Council, Creative and Cultural Skills Scotland, Highlands and Islands Enterprise, Scottish Enterprise and the Scottish Government’s Cultural Department, the project will further enhance Edinburgh Napier University’s role as the government’s crucial partner in Scotland to design future policy schemes in Creative Industries.
