Comparing levels of internet access, internet use and e-government use in the SmartCities countries
A research brief for the Smart Cities Project
This report summarizes the main statistics on internet access, internet usage and e-government usage in the different SmartCities countries (Belgium, the Netherlands, Norway, Germany, Sweden and the United Kingdom). The data and graphs are from the Eurostat European ICT surveys of 2007 and 2008. This report will be updated in September 2009 to include additional data on internet and e-government usage.
Levels of e-government usage by individuals strongly varies between the different countries - ranging from 23% in Belgium to 62% in Norway. The use of e-government by enterprises in SmartCities countries is much higher than that of individuals, ranging from a low of 56% in Germany to a high of 78% in Sweden.
