Success Stories - Social Integration
In the School of Arts & Creative Industries, the "Knowing Yourself & Others" workshop was used in Week 1 Trimester 2 as a vehicle to bring two cohorts of students together, from MA Journalism and MSc Publishing, who would be working together for the first time on a joint module with a group project assessment element. The session was tailored to "group work" skills, in order to prepare students from the two programmes for working collaboratively together.

In the School of Computing, a version of the "Knowing Yourself & Others" workshop was used as part of a day of other programme-related activities to welcome 2nd year students back after the trimester break. The workshop gave students the opportunity to re-establish peer connections and re-orientate themselves to study. The programmes catered for have a significant proportion of 2nd year Direct Entry students, and the workshop was also a way of reinforcing social integration within the cohorts.
