Purpose of this workshop

To help you identify and mobilise your networks and develop your networking skills.

Developing effective networking skills will help you achieve what you want personally and throughout your career. It is an important employability – and life - skill. Good networkers are able to create ‘social capital’ which they can draw on to create personal and professional success now and in the future. Networking is the practise of meeting and developing relationships with people who can be of help to you and whom you can help. Networking is a means of creating new opportunities for work and study, and of enhancing your personal and professional profile.

Content of this workshop

This workshop is designed to give you a broad range of techniques to enhance the quality and impact of your networking ability. In this workshop, you will learn the principles of effective networking to create long-term benefit. You will identify the opportunities for networking in your professional area and learn how to make the most of networking opportunities. You will learn techniques to present yourself effectively to other people and make an impact. You will create a networking action plan to develop and mobilise your personal networks.

By the end of this workshop you will have:

  • improved your confidence and skill in the interpersonal aspects of networking
  • identified your current network and devised an action plan to broaden it
  • learned the principles of successful networking
  • learned how to make the most of any networking opportunity
