What is Confident Futures?
The Confident Futures programme has been designed to contribute to the University's strategy of developing confident, employable graduates. It aims to empower students to take an increasing responsibility for their own personal and professional development, by developing their self-awareness, their ability to act on their own initiative, their ability to take responsibility for their own actions and behaviours, and their self-efficacy.
The programme consists of:
- A welcome workshop for all new students starting at Edinburgh Napier University
- A wide variety of personal and professional development workshops designed to build well-founded confidence and the skills, attitudes and behaviours sought by 21st century employers
- High quality resources to support each workshop
- Continuous promotion of the concept and practice of personal and professional development planning
Our workshops are highly interactive. They are delivered in one of two ways:
- As part of an open programme, which any student can sign up to for their own personal development
- In contextualised and customised versions that are then integrated into specific modules within certain programmes to enhance the learning that is taking place, eg prior to doing group work, to going out on placement, or doing project work. For more examples of these in use, please click here.
In either case, students will be provided with tools that will help them to be more successful, and will be given the opportunity to practise using them in a safe and relevant environment.
