The focus of our Faculty is upon Capitalising on Creativity

We seek to underpin our work in designing, developing, implementing, and promoting outputs with a creative influence. An output could be anything from a building, to a computer program, to a film, or an article, or a music composition. Over the last four decades, the Faculty has evolved to be a centre of excellence for relevant and research-informed education and training in the areas of built environment, design, lens media, cultural and creative industries, engineering, information sciences and digital technologies. 

Underpinning all of our work is a commitment to provide a relevant education for our students, with an aim to ensure that our graduates are work ready. This means that we work closely with industry, commerce and professional bodies in designing our courses, and continue to work with them in maintaining currency… after all, nothing stands still.

We are also proud of our reputation for being a very friendly, and student-centred University – this means that our academic and professional support staff are available, and are committed to assisting and supporting you throughout your studies with us. In fact, our ratio of students to staff is the lowest of any modern University in Scotland according to The Times Good University Guide 2007.
