IT Skills
C&IT Services offer training in the following software packages, Access (database), EndNote (reference management), Excel (spreadsheet), Nvivo (qualitative data analysis), Outlook (email, calendar, task lists), PowerPoint (presentations), Word (word processing). Consult the Training Schedule and follow the booking procedure for any sessions you wish to attend.

Educational Development
As staff members, research students are eligible to attend seminars run by Napier's Educational Development unit (EdDev). These seminars must be booked by following instructions on their web site. The events are free of charge unless you fail to attend. You will find several events specifically targeted at research students and supervisors.

MSc Social Research
Research students in FECCI may take one or more modules in the MSc Social Research programme. Study is by online learning and you may elect to be assessed (gaining formal credit) or not. To enquire about the modules on offer in any particular semester, contact j.harden@napier.ac.uk
Research Office
The University's Research office runs lunch time workshops and open surgeries devoted to helping academic staff and research students with grant applications. These events are most suitable for research students seeking postdoctoral funding.
Language Support for International Students
If English is not your mother tongue, consider taking advantage of the University's English language support classes. There are individual help sessions available and sessions on pronunciarion, presentation and written English.
