From the beginning of your studies you are expected to use the
Research Students Professional and Personal Development Portfolio (PPDP) throughout your research degree (or to start using it, if you are already part of the way through your studies). You can customise it to meet your individual needs.
The University's Research Degree Regulations, Progress Monitoring Forms, and access to your student record are located under Administration.
A PhD is no longer simply the pursuit of an isolated piece of independent research. At Edinburgh Napier University we embrace the Research Councils' broader emphasis on transferable skills and employability. These skills will provide the framework for the Faculty’s Personal and Professional Development Record.
Vitae UK is a national organisation that promotes the personal, professional and career development of postgraduate research students and research staff in Higher Education Institutions and and Research Institutes.
We have an annual Faculty Research Students' Conference, held in the Spring, which all postgraduate research students and supervisors participate in. The next conference will take place on Friday 18th May 2012. We also run a series of postgraduate teaching seminars in each trimester.
