Biomedicine & Sports Science
The Biomedicine and Sports Science Research Group (BSSRG) was formed in 2003, bringing together research staff engaged in biomedical research (rated 4 in RAE2001) with colleagues from, at that time, a newly established programme of sport and exercise science in the School of Life, Sport & Social Sciences. Building capacity through encouragement of early career researchers, and providing an environment with vitality for research staff and postgraduate students alike were key early objectives. There are now active and sustainable collaborations with other highly regarded research groups in the UK and worldwide, increasing levels of funding, laboratories equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, and an exciting and stimulating environment for research students.
