Undergraduate Courses
Biological Sciences
All of our Biological Sciences (Hons) courses have a common first stage and some common elements in the second stage. This allows you to transfer between degree routes should you wish to, or you can choose to take a more general degree. All of our programmes have a strong emphasis on practical work, with a final-year research project constituting the most important single component of the degree.
Sport & Exercise Science
With strong science content, these courses are focussed on the study of sport and exercise performance. You can specialise in Sports Injuries, Sports Coaching, Exercise Physiology or Sport Psychology; these honours programmes also have a strong applied component. A large proportion of time is spent in our modern, fully-equipped laboratories learning the practical skills that you will need when you leave university.
BPS-accredited Psychology degrees
Three of our degrees, BA/BSc (Hons) Psychology, BA (Hons) Psychology with Sociology and BSc (Hons) Psychology with Sport and Exercise Science are professionally accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS) as conferring eligibility for the Graduate Basis for Chartership, the first step to becoming a Chartered Psychologist.
Criminology
Drawing on a range of social sciences, our new BA (Hons) Criminology programme is ideal for those who want to study crime from an interdisciplinary perspective – to understand the causes and consequences of crime, and how it is controlled and regulated in contemporary society.
Degrees in the Social Sciences
The BA (Hons) Social Sciences and BA (Hons) Psychology & Sociology degrees provide you with flexible opportunities to study a range of subjects, equipping you with knowledge and skills that can be applied to communities and individuals.
Youth Work
This innovative course has been accredited by the CLD Standards Council and is the first here at Edinburgh Napier to have a Foundation Degrees Award exit. It has been developed by Edinburgh Napier University in partnership with Edinburgh’s Telford College and in association with the City of Edinburgh Council Community Learning and Development (CLD) department. The course will enable people already working in the youth work sector to ‘upskill’.
Complementary Healthcare
We offer two specialist top-up routes in aromatherapy and reflexology for those wanting to use these therapies in professional contexts, combining an understanding of the theoretical knowledge with practical teaching of therapeutic skills in new clinic facilities.
