BSc (Hons) Civil & Timber Engineering

Timber plays a major part in the construction of major infrastructure. Students learn the fundamentals of civil engineering, then the specific skills involved in using timber in construction. You'll develop skills in and knowledge of structural analysis, construction engineering, structural use of timber, timber design and relevant computer applications. On graduation, you'll possess the ability to take an integrated approach to problem solving, as well as knowledge of the legal and contractual issues The honours course is accredited by the Institution of Civil Engineers and the Institution of Structural Engineers. The course offers eligibility for Incorporated Engineer status after a period of work experience only, with no further study required.

MSc Timber Engineering & MSc Timber Industry Management

With the drive towards sustainable construction, the use of timber as a primary building and engineering material is steadily increasing.  As a result, so too is the demand for qualified professionals with management skills to work in the timber industry; and for engineers who want to work with the unique, low carbon resource that is timber. Two timber related Masters degree courses - both unique in the UK - are available at Edinburgh Napier University to help meet this demand from industry. Both the MSc Timber Engineering and MSc Timber Industry Management courses are available in Full-time, Part-time and Distance Learning modes.
