The Institute for Sustainable Construction (ISC) has developed in partnership and on behalf of many product enterprises a range of new construction and building technology products and systems. There are a variety of enabling support mechanisms available to construction product enterprises. Two of the most common funding support mechanisms to engage with experts at ISC are Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs) and R&D Grant Support.
KTPs provide between 40-60% grant support funding and may vary from 12 months to 3 years depending on the project. ISC specialist research and knowledge transfer centres often combine their skills to support companies in maximising the full economic and business benefits of a KTP. In addition, it also provides a mechanism of delivering multiple technical and innovative solutions through one KTP project.
Edinburgh Napier University has won four UK National KTP Awards for KTP Partnerships with industry. For further information on KTP process and benefits please contact Prof Sean Smith, Director of ISC.
R&D is the key to sustainable economic growth and to assist companies in developing new products the R&D Grant Support provides a very useful mechanism to deliver such aims. R&D Grants can be used to assist product development work and are provided across many of the UK’s regional and business gateways.
There are a number of opportunities to obtain funding support for product or system development, which many construction companies are unaware of. ISC can provide guidance with regards to where these funding sources are and how to go about the process of applying for grants.
