ISC in collaboration with industry partners developed a new construction test facility in 2008, termed the Building Performance Assessment Centre (BPAC) – Hangar 17. This unique facility allows new construction products and systems to be evaluated in full scale test buildings. In addition, there are two large prototype test bays which can be hired for the erection of new house-build systems.
Such facilities accessible all year round also provide an excellent training and R&D capability for companies. BPAC Hangar 17 also has full UKAS accreditation for structural performance testing. The construction of the blockwork and timber frame apartment test buildings were partly funded through Scottish Enterprise “Proof of Concept” Scheme and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
