Martha is Associate Professor of Learning & Teaching Enhancement at Edinburgh Napier University.
Her current research and scholarship work focuses on widening access to university in national and international perspective; supporting student transitions; enhancing employability; and developing staff and student 'professional identities'.
Martha's academic background is in the sociology and anthropology of education, with a focus on international policy and practice, education for development, and schooling in the context of civil war and conflict.
Martha is a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Prior to joining Edinburgh Napier, Martha was Depute Director (Learning, Teaching & Curriculum) at The Open University in Scotland, leading on curriculum development, learning enhancement initiatives, community outreach and employer engagement, employability and skills.
