How to apply: Full-time Undergraduate courses
If you are about to leave school or college or are interested in progressing your education, you can apply to become an undergraduate student studying for an honours degree. An Honours degree (BA Hons / BSc Hons) will normally take 4 years full-time study to complete. Alternatively you can graduate with a ordinary degree after 3 years.
Honours degrees are broken into four classes, depending on marks from assessments and exams. A first class degree is awarded to the top students; an upper second class (called a 2:1) to the next best students; then a lower second class (2:2); and finally a third class degree. An ordinary degree may be awarded to a student who has completed the full honours degree course but obtained a lower pass mark than required for a third class honours degree.

Courses starting in September 2012
For all our full-time undergraduate courses starting in September you need to apply through UCAS (Universities and Colleges Admissions Service). You should apply between 1 September 2011 and 15 January 2012 for September 2012 entry. Once you have made your application through UCAS:
- You will receive confirmation from UCAS that your application(s) has been received.
- UCAS will pass your application onto Edinburgh Napier for consideration.
- When Edinburgh Napier receives your application it will be processed in line with our Admissions Policy and one of the following three decisions will be made – an unconditional offer, a conditional offer, or a rejection.
- Some courses require an interview, portfolio or audition before an offer can be made and applicants for these courses will be contacted regarding these arrangements.
- You can track your application and any decisions made on the UCAS Track site.
- Once we have made a decision on your application, Edinburgh Napier will send this information to UCAS who will contact you. In addition Edinburgh Napier will contact you directly with the decision.
- Once you have received all offers back from the courses and institutions you applied to, the decision is yours and you have the option of firmly accepting the offer, making the offer your insurance choice, or declining the offer. Further information on how you do this is available from UCAS Track. UCAS will inform you of the deadlines for responding to your offers and it is important that you respond by the deadline provided.
