Edinburgh Napier University’s Institute for Creative Industries offers research, consultancy, training and support to those who work in, with and for the arts and creative industries - from individual practitioners and SMEs to Government and not-for-profit organisations.
Mirroring the creative industries it serves, the Institute crosses disciplinary boundaries between art, business, creativity, culture and technology. Our aim is to undertake and influence:
Research - into the histories, practices, products, theories and meanings of culture and creativity.
Knowledge Exchange - bringing practitioners, scholars, entrepreneurs, policy makers and the wider public together to identify, share and exploit new and existing knowledge.
Enterprise, skills and creative growth – through training, consultancy, business support and Continuous Professional Development (CPD) delivered flexibly where it’s needed, when it’s needed and how it’s needed.
Policy and practice in the Creative Industries – helping to improve access, diversity and sustainability.
Amongst the services and opportunities the Institute offers are:
- Internationally renowned research into publishing, English Literature, music, photography and film.
- Industry accredited CPD in film, journalism, television and cross-platform media
- Consultancy services in design, film & video production, Rights Management (IPR) and creative business start-up.
The Institute works through a number of specialist centres, in collaboration with the University’s other Institutes and with other education, research and industry partners.
