CLAW: The Focus of Literary Research at Edinburgh Napier
Welcome to the Centre for Literature and Writing (CLAW) at Edinburgh Napier University. CLAW is located at the University’s Craighouse Campus and involves staff from the English, Drama and Creative Writing Subject Group within the School of Arts & Creative Industries.
Within CLAW we are interested in the wider role of literature in the 21st century. Our research is focused on promoting the enduring importance of literature to contemporary culture. Our literary interests range from the early 19th century to the present day, and the focus of Creative Writing research is on crime and detective fiction, fantasy writing, science fiction, graphic fiction and theories of writing.
The aims of CLAW are to:
- Promote literary research within a 21st century context
- Emphasise the value of creative writing in a 21st century context
- Engage the local and national communities in literary activities
- Promote the value of literature within an interdisciplinary context
