The Cyber Academy and MBM Commercial hosted a highly successful conference event with over 120 delegates which outlined some of the current issues of law and cyber security.

The rise in use of mobile technology and cloud services has helped drive the ‘Big Data’ revolution, providing businesses with new data and new opportunities to exploit it. At the same time there has been exponential growth in the incidents of ransomware and other malicious security issues. In addition, businesses need to be aware of the impact of the impending implementation of tougher data protection laws now that the ‘countdown to compliance’ with the new GDPR has well and truly begun.

MBM Commercial, in conjunction with the Cyber Academy at Edinburgh Napier University (http://thecyberacademy.org), hosted a seminar to look at some of the key issues affecting data security created by this ‘perfect storm’ and help identify how best to cope with the legal and technical challenges facing businesses today. The event integrated speakers across a range of disciplines with perspectives from the legal, law enforcement, technical, business and academic communities.
