Professor Invited To Give Evidence at Scottish Parliament Committee on Cyber Attacks within Health Care
Prof Bill Buchanan, who leads The Cyber Academy at Edinburgh Napier University, has been invited as a witness at the Health and Sport Committee within the Scottish Parliament on Tuesday 20 June 2017. The invite relates to recent cyber-attacks on health and social care, and the key focus will be on the state of preparedness across health and social care to combat future attacks.

Prof Bill Buchanan, who leads The Cyber Academy at Edinburgh Napier University, has been invited as a witness at the Health and Sport Committee within the Scottish Parliament on Tuesday 20 June 2017. The invite relates to recent cyber-attacks on health and social care, and the key focus will be on the state of preparedness across health and social care to combat future attacks.

This committee has taken written evidence from health boards around Scotland, especially focused on the impact of the ransomware attack, and how they might cope with future attacks.

Bill has an international track record for Cyber Security and its integration into health care, and have developed a range of innovative solution which support citizen-centric approaches. This includes work leading to a highly successful spin-out company: Symphonic Trust. He has also given evidence around a range of issues, such as within the House of Commons related to the Investigatory Powers Bill.
