Prescribing in anxiety
Anxiolytics are effective treatments for anxiety. This article discusses prescribing decisions against a backdrop of current NICE guideline for anxiety. As in treatment of psychosis and depression the article argues that pharmacological intervention is warranted then accurate, replicable, structured and systematic diagnosis is the key to a clear decision. Prescribing should encompass extensive knowledge of potential adverse events and risk factors. These issues are outlined.
