  In July 1995 Aston Business School had the privilege of organising and hosting the First European Conference of the International Association for Management of Technology (IAMOT). At the time it was the first IAMOT conference to be held outside North America. Since then the association has held its annual international conference in Gothenburg, Sweden (1997); Cairo, Egypt (1999); Lausanne, Switzerland (2001); Nancy, France (2003); Vienna, Austria (2005); and Beijing, China (2006). IAMOT has therefore become truly international, both in terms of its conference locations and wide participation by delegates from around the World. Now, in September 2006, IAMOT is back in Birmingham for the Second European Conference on Management of Technology. However, in a sense it is another first for IAMOT since there have never before been two conferences in one year, the Beijing conference having being held just four months ago in May. Our aim has therefore been to organise something different; a regional research conference with a focus on both European and international technology management issues. Hence the overall theme of “Technology and Global Integration”, which is reflected in many of the papers and the conference keynote presentations. These full proceedings on CD contain all the papers accepted for the conference following the review process. They are on separate PDF files with the filename based on the family name of the first author. There is also a separate table of contents and author index. More than 250 abstracts were submitted, which therefore involved around 500 independent reviews. Final papers were also subject to a further review process before being included in these proceedings. We would therefore like to record our special thanks to the members of the Scientific Committee and Review Board as well as several ad hoc reviewers who assisted by refereeing the submitted abstracts and final papers. Their efforts are greatly appreciated.
