A novel e-health resource to support patients and families in and after intensive care: spreading the word throughout NHS Scotland.
Our website evaluated extremely positively among patients, family members and clinicians in NHS Lothian and our model is unquestionably of utility Scotland-wide.The underpinning research and iterative website development during the both the original project and our recent evaluation (Health Foundation funding) highlighted the importance of user preferences in maximising uptake and continued engagement with the website. Accordingly, we added more patient and clinician webcasts and sources of local community support. Regional accents and highly localised sources of community support resulted in a very Scottish “feel”, but with a specific NHS Lothian focus. We will maximise uptake and impact of our innovation, by inviting and supporting its spread and “localisation” by up to 8 further Scottish Health Boards or ICUs.
