Welcome to the School of Arts & Creative Industries
Thank you for visiting our website and welcome to the School of Arts and Creative Industries at Edinburgh Napier University. We are one of the premier centres for creative arts education in Scotland. Our reputation in these fields spans over three decades with a philosophy of providing a rigorous professional training, set within creative practice and informed by critical theory and research.
The School of Arts & Creative Industries offers a creative, supportive and lively community for our students, graduates and staff. We offer a wide variety of degrees at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, covering a range of disciplines from film to music, design to acting, English to journalism. Whatever course you choose, you will be equipped with the skills and knowledge to realise a career in the creative industries.
Employability is core to our courses and over 93% of the University's graduates are in employment or further study within six months. The quality of our students and graduates work can be seen through the range of awards that they regularly win for their work. Multi-disciplinary collaborations are an increasingly important feature of the School, particularly as many disciplines which were once distinct are rapidly converging in technology and business models.
Entrepreneurship is also embedded across programmes and alongside our courses we now offer access for students and graduates to a new creative industries incubator where you can develop your entrepreneurial ideas with the support and mentorship of experience staff.
International collaborations, projects and exchanges are also embedded in many programmes and the School is engaged in a range of exchange programmes with institutions across the world including China, Australia, USA, Canada, Norway, Finland, Netherlands and France. Our BA (Hons) Communication, Advertising and Public Relations programme is also taught at our partner institution Hong Kong University SPACE.
All of our lecturers are active professional practitioners and researchers and we work closely with industry and professional organisations to ensure our courses are up to date and relevant to industry needs. Placements, industrial projects, talks and visits are all embedded across programmes offering valuable opportunities to work with industry professionals. Staff in the School are engaged with on-going professional activities, knowledge exchange and research projects through our Institute for Creative Industries.

From January 2013, most of our activities will be located in our Merchiston campus, with additional activities at Screen Academy Scotland and at our newly completed Morningside Church facility for acting, film and television (all within 5 minutes walk of Merchiston).
