Computing facilities

The School of Computing has some of the most impressive IT facilities in a UK university including: 

• Jack Kilby Computer Centre (500 PCs, 24/7 access in our two main teaching trimesters) 
• specialist labs including networking and embedded systems for Linux, Cisco and Microsoft technologies
• a new games development lab with 24 XBox 360 machines
• specialist digital media labs with iMac computers
• software available to students from Microsoft, VMWare, iPhone and Blackberry
• WiFi network access available throughout all campuses

Library resources

The School of Computing is based at Merchiston Campus which houses a fully-networked library with an extensive collection of computing books and required course texts. The library also has a specialist assistive technology computer suite for disabled students.
