We have several University-run student accommodation sites. This includes a brand new 778 bedroom (all en-suite!) student accommodation site opposite Fountain Park, called Bainfield, which will open for September 2013.

All Edinburgh Napier University accommodation is self catered and situated in the centre of Edinburgh, on good transport routes to our campuses. They are well supplied by shops, restaurants, cafes, bars, cinemas and sports facilities.

If you are a first year or direct entrant undergraduate student who meets the allocation criteria, you will be guaranteed an offer of accommodation.

We will allocate you a suitable space based on the general criteria outlined below; it's not possible for you to choose your accommodation site.

University accommodation is now full for September 2013.

If you're still looking for accommodation, we run a Support Service to help. You can also email accommodation@napier.ac.uk to be put on our waiting list which is used if we have any cancellations.

Flat developments

All accommodation is non-smoking in the flats and stairwell. Cigarette bins are provided outside each flat development for cigarette ends. See what's included at the bottom of this page.

Bainfield, New Fountainbridge, EH11 1AR (postcode tbc)

Brand new for September 2013

Bainfield student accommodationWe now have 507 brand new bedrooms ready for students at our Bainfield student accommodation site. We hope that students will be delighted with their brand new en suite bedrooms - many with amazing views across the city.

We have checked all of the flats to ensure that everything works correctly, but if you do come across any problems please alert staff in the management suite at Bainfield. Work on the student bar will start this year and we will send out updates on its progress.

There are seven blocks of flats in total in the development:

  • Arthurs Seat House
  • Blackford Hill House
  • Braid Hills House
  • Calton Hill House
  • Castle Rock House
  • Corstorphine Hill House
  • Craiglockhart Hill House

Castle Rock and Craiglockhart Hill blocks are still to be completed. These buildings are built but the interior fit out (i.e. decoration and floor finishes) needs to be finished. Any disruption from this work should be minimal.

The east facing apartments in two of the blocks look out to the site of the new Boroughmuir High School which will start construction over the course of the next few months.  We anticipate this won't cause too much disturbance. We have ensured that there is hoarding to segregate between the ongoing site works and safe access to the properties. We also have 24 hour security on site.

Support

The flats are managed by a professional team of accommodation staff based off-site.

Our Accommodation Officers can offer support for personal problems and can put you in touch with welfare and support services in the University. The Officers hold weekly drop-in sessions at the developments, and students can also make meeting appointments in advance.

Senior Residents are older students who live on site to help welcome new residents and check that everything runs smoothly throughout the year.

Contact details of your Accommodation Officer and Senior Resident will be displayed on the notice board for your flat.

Security

The University has a 24 hour security service for any out of hours emergencies. They can be contacted by phone on 0131 455 6119.

CCTV is installed at the larger developments and security patrols are regularly carried out through the night and on weekends. The University does not accept responsibility for any loss or damage to the personal effects of residents, either in the flats or in car park areas.
