“Since receiving the scholarship from Accsys Technologies, we have agreed a really interesting MSc dissertation subject, and I have started to conduct a literature review on the product Accoya. Accoya is a compelling product and an answer to durability and sustainability. In my current role at Carbon Dynamic, we are using Accoya on the affordable social housing project which I am currently in charge of. It is rewarding to be doing my dissertation around a real work-based project, and I am extremely grateful to Accsys Technologies for providing financial support.”

Max Garcia case study. 2009. DUT Génie Civil / HND Civil Engineering at IUT La Rochelle. Summer placement in the renovation of historical buildings. 2010. Final project on the green retrofit of a university building from the 1970’s. Summer placement at the infrastructure department of the French Ministry of Defence. 2011. 3rd year BSc Civil & Timber Engineering at Edinburgh Napier University. 2012. I joined a 28-person team going out to Malawi to build and refurbish approximately 20 classrooms. Appeared on BBC Radio Scotland, John Beattie Show to talk about the project. 2013. Gained a Timber Masters Scholarship through Construction Scotland Innovation Centre. 2014. Awarded with First class BSc (hons) degree - 3 months internship at Carbon Dynamic - 2 months internship at Martinez Segovia Pallas y Asociados in Madrid (ES), engineering consultancy. Started full-time employment as Project Engineer at Carbon Dynamic, volumetric timber manufacturer. 2015. Support in the development of the built environment eXchange (beX) program. Listed as part of the 50 UK sustainability rising stars. 2016. Ambassador for beX Invited Speaker at Vision in London “BIM for Modular Buildings”Architecture Design Scotland (ADS) “Septimber” event, Glasgow Modular and Offsite Construction summit, Edmonton (Canada). Construction Scotland Innovation Centre (CSIC) Design for Manufacture & Assembly (DfMA) CPD Event, Glasgow. 2017. Guest lecturer at Institut Universitaire de Technologie (IUT) integrated design processes & structural timber systems, La Rochelle (France). MSc Thesis on the multi-criteria design of acetylated wood (Accoya) based pad foundations.
