Abdelfateh Kerrouche was awarded the degrees of BEng in Electronics (Automatics) from Gustave Eiffel University (France, 2003) and MSc in Electronics (Signal, System and Image) from Paris-Sorbonne University (France, 2004). He graduated with a PhD “Measurement and Instrumentation” from City University London in 2009. Abdelfateh has extensive multidisciplinary experience in European research projects (Sustainable Bridges - Overall budget: € 10m, and Aquavalens - Overall budget: €9 million). He worked as a Research Associate for 6 years at Heriot Watt University in collaboration with Scottish Water Company. He developed semi-automated systems for pathogen detection in drinking water. In 2016, Abdelfateh was affiliated to School of Engineering and The Built Environment, Edinburgh Napier University. He has been involved in lecturing Instrumentation Systems and Embedded Systems at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Abdelfateh has significant research experience across a wide range of subjects encompassing optical sensors, automation and applied microbiology. He has published numerous publications in various national and international peer-reviewed journals and presented scientific papers across the world. Because of the active association with different societies and academies as well as the contributions, he is been recognised by the subject experts around the world. His area of interest includes: Pathogen detection, water sample preparation, sensors, aquaculture, Internet of Things (IoT) and renewable energy.
