Biography

Dr Ahmed is a lecturer at Edinburgh Napier University's School of Computing, Engineering, and the Built Environment. He has a diverse academic background and extensive experience in civil engineering and teaching. Ahmed joined Edinburgh Napier University in 2010 as a PhD student and has since worked his way up to become a permanent lecturer.

As a lecturer, Ahmed has taught a range of mathematics and civil engineering subjects to undergraduate and MSc level students. He has also taken on module leadership responsibilities and is the program leader for the global online MSc Construction Project Management. His research interests include timber engineering, bio-based composite materials in construction, non-destructive test technology in civil engineering, and the development of high strength and performance green concrete. Ahmed has been the lead or co-investigator for several research projects funded by prestigious organizations.

Ahmed has published his research outcomes in several prestigious civil engineering journals, where he is often the first or corresponding author. He also has experience using finite element software to model complex structures and teaches the finite element module at the MSc level. Before joining Edinburgh Napier University, Ahmed worked as a teaching assistant and lecturer in the Civil Engineering Department at Omar Al Mukhtar University in Libya. He completed his B.Eng. in Civil Engineering in Libya and earned an MSc (Hons) in Civil Engineering from Atilim University in Turkey.
