Biography

Dr Bruce Ryan is a Senior Research Fellow within the School of Computing, where most of his work is within the Centre for Social Informatics. Following completion of his PhD in organic chemistry, he spent 15 years in educational publishing before returning to study for an MSc in Information Systems Development at Edinburgh Napier University.

While undertaking his Masters studies, and following successful completion of the course in early 2014, Bruce worked as a Research Associate on a number of research projects within the Centre for Social Informatics, mainly focused on the use of technology for democratic engagement. He has also been involved in library and information science research, notably the CILIP/ARA Workforce Mapping Project, completed in 2015, and the RIVAL project, completed in 2021.
