Helen joined the Employment Research Institute at Edinburgh Napier University in 2012, after completing a PhD in Social Policy at the University of Edinburgh. She has been involved in research on a range of labour market and welfare issues, including the impact of welfare reform in Scotland, the experiences of women in the ICT industry, and the well-being of young people in Europe. Other research to date has included work on childcare, work-family reconciliation, and economic inactivity. She is experienced in the use of both quantitative methods, such as regression modelling and the analysis of large scale social survey data sets, as well as qualitative methods such as interviewing and focus groups.
