Laura Lam gained a Masters in Literature in Creative Writing with commendation from the University of Aberdeen in 2015 and a first class Bachelors of Arts in English Literature and Creative Writing from California State University East Bay in 2009. In August 2016 she joined the Napier Creative Writing MA, and she will begin a PgCert in Teaching and Learning at Napier in September 2017, after which she plans to pursue a PhD in Creative Writing. Additionally, she conducts school visits for teens throughout the UK and is a mentor for one of the 2015 Scottish Book Trust New Writers Award recipients.
She is the award-winning writer of five novels: the acclaimed Micah Grey gaslight fantasy trilogy and the near future thrillers, False Hearts and Shattered Minds. False Hearts was a BBC Radio 2 Book Club section in July 2016, as well as a Locus Recommended Read, a Romantic Times top pick, and also received a starred Booklist review. Shattered Minds was an Amazon Editors' Best SFF Books of the Month choice in June 2017. Pantomime, the first of the Micah Grey series, won the Bisexual Book Award for Speculative Fiction and was a Scottish Book Trust Teens Book of the Month, as well as shortlisted for numerous other awards.
Current writing projects include more near-future thrillers, a historical time travel fantasy, and a co-written epic YA space opera.
