Biography

Norma D’Annunzio-Green is Senior lecturer (HRM) at Edinburgh Napier University Business School. She has significant experience in teaching and research at both undergraduate and MSc level and is currently programme leader for the part time MSc HRM (CIPD accredited) and programme leader for the BA HRM with Organisational Psychology (Singapore) which has been running in partnership with Singapore Human Resource Institute for over 8 years. Norma has extensive experience of developing and leading a number of successful transnational and online/blended teaching initiatives.
Norma is academic lead for the Certificate in Leadership Practice (blended), delivered through SELECT (the professional body for electricians in Scotland) who offer this to their professional members as part of their line management and leadership development CPD. This successful professional programme is soon to recruit its 12th cohort.
Norma has recently (2018) edited a special edition of the practice-based journal Worldwide Hospitality and Tourism Themes on Strategic Talent Management in the Hospitality sector. This involved collaborations with senior-level practitioners, professional bodies and academics to come up with a range of academic papers with strong practice-based recommendations as to how talent management could be improved within the hospitality sector.
Norma and also conducts research around teaching and pedagogy, and has recently (2018) had a paper accepted for publication in Education + Training Journal examining the impact of part-time study on the personal and professional development of student learners on MSC programmes at Edinburgh Napier Business School.
In addition to her academic work, Norma has a wealth of leadership and management experience in the hospitality, tourism and education sector, having been Subject Group Leader for the HRM academic team for over 10 years.
Her main research interests focus on employee resourcing, performance management and talent management for HRM specialists and line managers. She has over 20 publications in a range of academic journals including Personnel Review, Employee Relations, Human Resource Development International and International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management. She has co-edited the book Human Resource Management, International Perspectives in Hospitality and Tourism. Norma regularly reviews academic papers for the International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management and World Wide Hospitality and Tourism Trends, as well as other HRM journals. She was awarded an Emerald Literati Award for Research Excellence.
Current research projects include an examination of employee perceptions of line manager effectiveness in performance management within the hospitality sector.
Her most recent publication examines the impact of line manager behaviour in the talent management process and its influence on employee self-determination. This has recently been published in a three star academic journal.
